Matthew Story

Matthew Waatti is the owner of LandStar serving Montana’s sub-market specializing in Commercial and Residential real estate sales, leasing, and development. With more than 20 years of commercial real estate experience, he has secured over 70 transactions with a volume valued in excess of $35 million. Prior to creating LandStar, Matthew was senior vice president of Grubb & Ellis, a commercial real estate company. He also served as the Chief Executive Officer of Peak Development, formerly Peak Development and Property Management. Under his leadership Matthew and his companies have built and sold more lifestyle retail centers, multi-family housing units and condominium complexes than any other local developer.

Additionally, he oversaw the design and building of the Kalispell Regional Medical Center Cancer Treatment Hospital, the largest cancer treatment center in the Northwest. Other projects include 60 residential condos on Flathead Lake, 12 unit apartment building, South Field Plaza consisting of 5 retail and office buildings over 75,000 Square Feet, several retail strips and single tenant buildings throughout Montana with tenants such as Goodwill, Qdoba, Dream Sleep, UPS, Five Guys, City Brew Coffee, Edward Jones, Little Caesar’s, Ashley Furniture and many more. Most recently, Matthew oversaw the completion of a 300-unit development in Kalispell as well as the Waterside condominium project in Lakeside.

Matthew has built a diverse company with a team of energetic agents, including sons Cecil and Derek. Ever humble, Matthew touts the accomplishments of his team before he ever would his own. Highly responsive with his communication, Matthew puts client needs first and does so cordially and with a smile. He believes in customer service the old fashioned way – the kind where trust is built early, and lasts. Matthew’s expertise allows him to fulfill clients’ dreams of gaining investment properties, purchase homes, and achieve property management, directly with his clients and also by fostering the gifts and strengths of his well-rounded team.

The Flathead Valley has been home to Matthew since 1977. He has happily raised his family here and has a profound appreciation of the area, from its fantastic school systems to its endless recreation and beauty. Matthew currently resides on Flathead Lake where he especially enjoys spending time with his grandchildren. Exploring Glacier National Park with his wife on their e-bikes, by way of the Going to the Sun Road, has become a new favorite pastime. You might also find Matthew and his family enjoying the San Juan Islands, bird hunting for pheasants, and of course boating on beautiful Flathead Lake.
